Deepfake and clone account removal for creators

By Zander Small, co-founder of FanlockUpdated October 13, 2026

Get the right report to the right platform

Fanlock helps creators document and report deepfakes and impersonating accounts. We scan X and Telegram for clone accounts with human review; for Instagram, send us the post or profile link for eligible reporting within your plan.

Where detection and reporting apply

LocationHow we find itHow we handle it
XClone and impersonation scanningHuman review and eligible social reports on Pro or Max
TelegramClone and impersonation scanningHuman review and eligible Telegram reports on Max
InstagramCreator-submitted post or profile URL; no Instagram scanningHuman review and eligible social reports on Pro or Max
Google and websitesMatching results and pages, plus submitted linksCopyright or eligible privacy requests within the supported route

Basic includes Google and websites. Pro adds Bing/Yahoo and social takedowns. Max adds Telegram. Manual submission allowances are 10/day, 50/day, and unlimited respectively; they do not expand platform coverage.

How the review works

  1. Share the location and context. Send the post and profile links, your official account, and any original work relevant to the claim. Keep threats or payment impersonation evidence private.
  2. Confirm identity and authority. Complete ownership verification and authorization. Our team checks the connection between you, the account, and the material before choosing a reporting basis.
  3. File the supported report. The route can be impersonation, intimate-image abuse, a qualifying TAKE IT DOWN request, or a copyright notice where the rights support it.
  4. Track the response. We follow up within coverage and distinguish a removed post, disabled account, search delisting, and unresolved request. Each outcome depends on the recipient and evidence.

The 48-hour rule applies to valid NCII requests

The FTC began enforcing the TAKE IT DOWN Act’s platform duties on May 19, 2026. A covered platform must remove qualifying nonconsensual intimate imagery within 48 hours of receiving a valid request and make reasonable efforts to identify and remove known identical copies. This includes qualifying digital forgeries. This is not a general DMCA deadline or a guarantee that every edited copy will disappear. Read the statute and FTC guidance.

Free routes you can use now

You can file a platform report yourself and request Google removal of eligible sexual content. Adults can check StopNCII eligibility and create their own case. Fanlock cannot submit StopNCII hashes for someone else. If the imagery depicts you under 18, follow NCMEC Take It Down without downloading or resharing it.

What Fanlock can help with

Fanlock scans X and Telegram for clone and impersonation accounts, with human review before reporting. Instagram is creator-submitted: send the post or profile link and the team reviews the evidence and files eligible reports within your plan’s coverage. We do not scan Instagram.

Basic includes Google and websites. Pro adds Bing/Yahoo and social takedowns; Max adds Telegram. Manual submission limits are 10 per day on Basic, 50 on Pro, and unlimited on Max. Those limits do not expand a plan’s platform coverage. See plans and coverage.

The reporting route depends on the evidence: impersonation, intimate-image abuse, an eligible TAKE IT DOWN request, or copyright infringement. A person’s likeness alone does not establish copyright ownership. Fanlock is not a law firm and cannot promise a platform’s decision or removal time.

Common questions

Do you scan Instagram for AI clones?

No. Send the Instagram post or profile URL. The team reviews and files eligible reports within social coverage. X and Telegram have clone and impersonation scanning.

Do you guarantee a 48-hour removal?

No. The TAKE IT DOWN Act imposes a deadline on covered platforms for valid qualifying NCII requests. It is not a Fanlock service guarantee, nor a deadline for every copyright or impersonation complaint.

Does a fake account always need a DMCA notice?

No. Impersonation or intimate-image reporting may fit the case. A copyright notice requires a valid claim to copied work. Your likeness alone does not establish that ownership.

Can you remove content from any private group?

No. Access and platform rules limit investigation and filing. Send a known link and the team can assess it. We cannot promise access to or removal from every private group.
